Is It Possible To Trust Those Rapid Oil Change Places?

By John Joseph

Many folks either don't have the time or the know how to change their own oil so they find themselves going to those fast oil change shops. The question is can these folks be depended on. In this article I will explain to you the reason why you should avoid these shops at all costs and find yourself a regular mechanic who is honest to do the work for you.

I'm really sure you already know that every car has certain guidelines about at what time certain services should be done. Such things as oil changes, air filter changes as well as other commonly scheduled maintenance. Having said that have you by chance really looked through the manual on your car? I can practically guarantee that if you read through the owners manual of your car you will find that your oil doesn't need to be changed every 3,000 miles like all those oil change places tell you. In fact when you look in your book you may find that you only need to change your oil every 6,000 or even 7,000 miles. What have just talked about is crucial for your understanding about oil, but there is much more to think about. But there is a great deal more that you would do well to learn. They will serve you well, though, in more ways than you know. Getting a high altitude snapshot will be of immense value to you. But we have saved the best for last, and you will understand what we mean once you have read through. So fundamentally these oil change shops are lying to you about that.

If you study the owner's manual, you'll also see at what time you should get the air filters changed. For my automobile, it is suggested that my air filters get switched out every two years or when it is clogged up. In my situation, the air filter really looked decent after four years but I opted to change it anyway just in case. But these quick oil changes would typically tell me that I would need to have the air filter changed. As a matter of fact, after I had barely changed my air filter, I drove my car to a quick oil change place and they told me that I needed a new air filter. They alleged that the air filtration system was starting to discolor which meant that it would start clogging at anytime. However, I told them that I changed the filter only six months ago and their response was that I would need to change it in another six months.

What's intriguing is that they originally told me that the filtering needed to be changed. However when I mentioned that the air filter was fairly new, they changed their answer to something else. It just shows how very, very bad and dishonest these people who are employed at these oil change places are.

One further thing that one of these shops carried out was change my transmission fluid once. I know that they tell you it must be changed every time you go in there. This one particular time I told them to move ahead and complete the work. Subsequently roughly 3 months later when I went once more for an oil change they told me my transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed. That has been the last time I ever visited any of those places.

I no longer go to these quick oil change places and rather have found a good mechanic to work on my car. One thing that I uncovered is many of the employees who work at these quick oil change places are not trained to fix cars, they just know how to con people. Nonetheless a mechanic who is certified is more than capable to help maintain your car.
