One reviewer said that he used an electronic GPS plus a paper map. Pulled the fuse and checked it with my multimeter, the fuse is good. Have a good day!
It doesn't tell you EVERY downgrade. The first 465T we had had two problems: the screen colors started to blur and bleed, and it crashed often. The truck routing of this GPS is just horrible at times. Remember D.O.T. I believe the entire model has problems and am going to try to get my money back from Garmin, because I am tired of throwing good money after bad on shipping and insurance plus the hassle of updating, reentering information, & etc.
I miss my old Garmin's "Cannot calculate route to destination." Route planning is good.
Sending unit back to Amazon for a replacement. Excellent signal reception. The volume is adjustable. It does require some "common sense" like anything else.I use Google earth to back up where this unit is wanting me to go. Not necessarily needed but it is that little extra detail that get's my confidence up when driving a 53' tractor trailer into a strange area. If you had to pay just one off route ticket, it would cover the cost of the unit.
So far I like this GPS through the Garmin corporation. It has all of the other stops people like to make. Not all functions are bad, sharp turn warning, weight station warning, but overall the unit seems to be confused, it resets or recalculates often.
Restrictions where none exist, and turns not recognized. If you don't press 'cancel' and press the 'next' key, you have to keep pressing the key again and again and again while it cycles thru the entire list. It helped to have previously owned a GPS that had a bus setting. The voice on GPS could be louder because it can be hard to hear in a truck. I bought this Garmin as a gift for my son-in-law who is new to trucking.
I love the product. It's about time Garmin came up with a GPS for trucks. I just got back from a trip from NY to CA it worked very well. The only drawbacks would be the speaker is not loud enough and a few times the posted speed limits were off and the secondary roads which said i could travel on were posted no thru trucks but overall i would highly recommend this GPS Rick CT. I am happy with this GPS.
On the other hand, with thousands of pounds on one's back at high speeds, these fellows and gals who drive the big rigs have an awesome responsibility and this little companion can take some of that stress away in the navigation part. Was it worth the money?
