How To Get Cheap Car Insurance

By Crystal Powers

When someone tells you that they have very cheap car insurance then you need to be cautious. What kind of insurance profile does that individual have that would give them the benefit of very cheap car insurance? People would usually complain about their car insurance rates to their friends, and the friends will claim that their insurance is a whole lot cheaper. This may be true. We don't all drive the same cars. Our driving records are different. Drivers are of different ages. There are many determinants of car insurance rates.

The Criteria

The Credit Report. Most of the insurance companies use credit as part of the equation when setting rates. Some people don't get that at all. There are now statistics that tell us that credit is a significant rating factor. The credit history is related to accident frequency.

The Vehicle Type. This can be a little tricky. Some newer vehicles actually have better rates than the older vehicles because of all the safety features. Some cars have high theft rates. You must make sure that you receive the vehicle identification number of a new vehicle and give it to your insurance company so you can get a new rate.

The Rating Area. You can't do anything about this unless you're willing to move.

Driver Info. Know that the driver's age and his records can affect the rate of the vehicle insurance.

Discounts. There can be several ways to get a discount. One way is by buying a home insurance plus auto insurance. Good student and drivers training discounts are available to young drivers with some companies. You can also find retirement discounts and discounts for taking mature driving courses.

The cheaper rate is really up to you. You should just research and ask questions.
