Volkswagen to unroll its Beetle Fender Edition

By Cornelius Nunev

The Volkswagen Beetle Fender Edition, first uncovered in a concept version at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, will hit the United States showrooms this coming fall. No, it does not feature an exaggerated wheel-guard section. Rather, it is inspired by the iconic electric guitar producer, whose instruments were made renowned by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and other iconic rockers.

Moving to North America after Europe

The collaboration with the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation will launch first in Europe, before moving on to North American dealerships. While most of its embellishments are purely aesthetic, it is likely that lovers of classic rock 'n' roll and hippie-era culture will find it pleasing.

Outside looks

The exterior of the Beetle Fender Edition will be painted "Deep Black Metallic," and has a chrome Fender logo just below the A-pillar. It also comes with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that bear a unique design, plus brushed chrome exterior mirrors and Bi-Xenon headlights.

Look insides

In the Beetle Fender, you will find a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four cylinder engine that gets 200-horsepower. It will have "starburst" color schemes throughout the dashboard and seams in the upholstery to match.

Listen to music loud

Volkswagen is the only business to have access to the nine-speaker Fender Premium Audio System with 10-channels and 400-watt amp. It is a great system for music in the Beetle Fender Edition.

Special German model

A German edition was released in the automaker's native land in the fall of 2011. That version had some benefits that have not translated to the U.S. production model. Namely, it had a wider rear to encompass the 19-inch wheels, an interface to jack in an electric guitar for road-trip jam sessions and a guitar pick-shaped decal on the front.

Working with rock music

Both automobiles and rock music represent freedom and youth, which every person loves no matter what age they are at. They have gone hand in hand for a long time, like the Ferrari presented for legendary guitar player Eric Clapton, the Ferrari SP12 EC. It was custom-built for him. Nobody has been shy about the connection.

Buyer gets to pick

The buyer will get three custom-designed Fender guitar pick with the purchase, but it is unknown what the cost will be of the production version of the Beetle Fender Model at this time.
