Dodge NJ Is Above Others

By Michelle Manson

During a period when the leading truck manufacturers are carrying out everything they can to differentiate themselves from the others, only some are producing ample noise to get above the at Dodge NJ. Just lately, Ram has produced a powerful push. Names like LonghornOutdoorsman and Ram Runner are getting a lot of truck buffs talking. Ram said the Outdoorsman package would be created to satisfy the discriminating needs of boating, hunting, camping and fishing enthusiasts. This brand new package will be offered in all 3 heavy-duty and light-duty Ram flavours - 1500, 2500, and also 3500. It replaces the TRX4 package moving forward.

For individuals who might not know, other Ram trim levels are the ST, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Sport (1500 only), Laramie (which has the new Longhorn edition) and Power Wagon (2500 Hemi only). Some other packages, such as the Tradesman and Adventurer packages, will be coming as well. The style as well as capabilities of the truck are well done, as Ram made every single attempt to include each off-road, towing, and four-wheel-drive option offered to the platform.

Likewise, all of the Outdoorsman models have the biggest fuel tank available (32 gallons for the 1500 and 34 or 35 gallons on the Ram HDs, based on the bed length); at least a class IV hitch with both four- and seven-pin plugs; a limited-slip differential; and the heavy-duty cooling package. Their 1500 Outdoorsman had Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 275/70R17 tires which filled the fat-lipped wheel wells very well and helped provide the package a much more rugged stance.

All the Outdoorsman deals have two-tone paint with a Mineral Gray lower colour that begins in the bumpers then wraps around to the fender flares to the lower door valances. As you might expect with any kind of rugged 4x4 package, all of the Outdoorsman's feature front and transfer case skid plates for extreme protection when discovering rougher backcountry terrain.

It is worth mentioning that as soon as the 4x4 high-range is engaged, the middle differential in the transfer case is secured, which means this mode should be engaged only on low-traction surfaces such as gravel roads, snow-covered pavement or loose sand. Combined with the intense treads of the all-terrain tires and smooth ride from the rear-coil suspension, the Outdoorsman never came close to getting stuck or finding a hurdle it couldn't overcome.

You'll also like the Outdoorsman's unique look, especially when compared with other late-model Rams on the highway. The blacked-out grille, 2-tone colour pallette and the pronounced rear-quarter "Outdoorsman" stickers give the pickup a strong personality.

Dodge NJ will assure you that you will love the rest of the Outdoorsman's interior, with its high quality cloth 40/20/40-split front bench seat, 10-way adjustable driver's seat and lots of back storage with two floor-mounted cubbies, in addition to 2 flat compartments under the rear seats. Also of note is the Ram's steering wheel, which now provides both front and rear fingertip controls on a leather-wrapped wheel. But probably the preferred feature on Outdoorsman package would be the dash-mounted 115-volt power outlet plug and inverter (so long as it doesn't need a 3-prong plug). This was especially helpful for recharging your flashlight and camera batteries.
